This month’s Women in Business Luncheon reflects the diversity of expertise held by female professionals in our Chamber, as we hear from two accomplished women in far different fields.
Bonnie Brickman is well known to Chamber members as the owner of Guys & Co. in Highland Park. Started in 2008 as a clothing and accessory store for boys, her business has expanded to include menswear for adults. In addition to managing every element of her store, Bonnie also shares her knowledge with other retail entrepreneurs through Beacon Retail Coaching, a consulting business. Bonnie combines her deep retail experience with a strong foundation in both Fashion and Business Education. Along with her Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising from Bradley University, she is also a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, along with a Certificate of Entrepreneurship from City Colleges of Chicago and a WhizBang! Certified Retail Coach.
Flora A. Calabrese, Associate Principal and Unit Manager of Wiss Janney Elstner Associates, Inc. has applied her knowledge and experience in structural engineering to troubleshooting a wide range of construction issues. Her work has led her to the heights of skyscrapers around the country and to the depths of water reclamation structures below the City of Chicago. In structures ranging from a century-old warehouse-turned-courthouse to transportation structures and many types of other buildings, she evaluates structural integrity and designs repair strategies as a partner and manager in a world-renowned forensic engineering firm. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Bonnie and Flora will share stories of their professional journeys during the lunch program, which also includes time for networking over lunch.
