Lunch & Learn: Medicare Changes in 2025
As a result of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 big changes are happening to Medicare in 2025. Most of these changes will affect the cost of prescription drugs and affect Part D plans as well as Medicare Advantage plans that include prescription drug coverage. Whether you’re new to Medicare, already enrolled in a plan, or just want to get a head start on learning about Medicare, you’ll want to attend this educational Medicare event with David Weil - Medicare Solutions. Bring your lunch, and your questions!
Discussion topics include:
- Removal of Coverage Gap (Donut Hole)
Effective 1-1-25, there are now only 3 Stages to a drug plan: Deductible: Initial Coverage; Catastrophic Coverage - Lower Maximum Out-of-Pocket Prescription Drug costs (now $2,000)
In 2024 Medicare members were required to hit an $8,000 out-of-pocket max on prescription drug expenses before entering the Catastrophic stage. For 2025 the out-of-pocket maximum is now $2,000. - New Prescription Payment Option (Can now spread payments out over plan year) Medicare members with Part D coverage can spread their prescription drug out-of-pocket costs into monthly payments over the course of the plan year. This provision will not lower prescription drug costs, but will make it more manageable until one reaches the $2,000 out-of-pocket max.
