Economic Outlook Breakfast

Award winning Chief Economist for Northern Trust, Paul Kasriel will be the keynote speaker at the Chamber’s annual Economic Outlook Breakfast. Topics he is expected to comment on include the current state of the U.S. economy, prognosis for inflation, the outlook for the U.S. dollar, the prospects for improvement in unemployment and what kind of recovery to expect in the year ahead.

Kasriel is known for his straightforward economic and financial market commentaries that often differ from conventional wisdom. In January 2009, The Wall Street Journal and Forbes cited him as one of the few economists who early on identified the formation of the housing bubble and foresaw the economic and financial market havoc that would ensue once the bubble inevitably burst. The accuracy of his 2008 economic forecast was ranked in the top five of the Wall Street Journal survey panel of economists.

Through written commentaries containing his straightforward and often nonconsensus analysis of economic and financial market issues, Kasriel has developed a loyal following in the financial community. The Northern Trust economic website was listed as one of the top ten most interesting by The Wall Street Journal.

Kasriel joined the economic research unit of the Northern Trust in 1986 as Vice President and Economist, and was named Senior Vice President and Director of Economic Research in 2000. He began his career as a research economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Kasriel has taught at the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business and at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
