When Americans paint a mental picture of Cuba, we envision a dark place where movement is restricted, free speech limited, and dissidents jailed. We think of a unhappy society where everyone is under the thumb of an oppressive government and people have no path to make their lives better.
In February, Rick Rosenfeld from Journey Softly led a group of 11 experienced travelers on a weeklong visit to Havana and western Cuba. What they experienced will astound you. While the socialist government of Cuba oversees a truly dysfunctional economy, there is a vibrant undercurrent of entrepreneurism that the government not only tolerates but encourages. Yes, the majority of people are poor, but they are friendly and warm and fiercely proud of being Cuban. Through their mission of meeting and supporting Cuban entrepreneurs, Rick and his group discovered firsthand the many paradoxes of life in Cuba.
Join Rick at our next BizHub where he will share the many surprising insights into Entrepreneurship in Cuba.
