Small Office/Home Office
At this informal roundtable discussion, small business owners and entrepreneurs help each other problem solve and discuss relevant business concerns. At this month’s meeting, representatives from Oakton Community College’s Workforce Development and Contract Training staff will be on hand to conduct a focus group to discuss educational needs.
Chamber Partnering with Oakton to Survey Business Needs
Building and running a successful small business can be challenging. It's not always easy to keep up with the latest technology, social media marketing, accounting practices and human resource trends. The Chamber is partnering with Oakton Community College to survey a range of members to help identify educational topics that will help owners and managers more efficiently operate their businesses. Dr. Collette Hands and Ron Smith, both with Oakton’s Workforce Development and Contract Training, and Dr. Maya Evans, Director of Research and Planning will be on site at the Chamber office on Wednesday, May 13th to conduct informal focus groups at the monthly Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) lunch meeting to gather information for possible educational programming.
Some of the topics they plan to explore include:
- What are the biggest challenges facing your business?
- Do you feel you have the tools to be successful?
- What areas would you like to receive training in?
