Renowned Chicago Sun-Times columnist and critically acclaimed author Neil Steinberg will be the featured speaker this month at a jointly sponsored lunch program with the Wheeling, Mt. Prospect, DBR and Northbrook Chambers. Known for his wit and candor, Steinberg is known for his humorous, irreverent approach to his literary topics. His combination of the cheerful and the bleak is a hallmark of his novels, including: The Alphabet of Modern Annoyances, Complete and Utter Failure: A Celebration of Also-Rans, Runners-Up, Never Weres, and Don't Give Up the Ship: Finding My Father While Lost at Sea, and his soon to be released novel Hatless Jack. His work has also appeared in Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated and the New York Times. Steinberg uses lighthearted humor and comic examples, often weaving in stories from his own life, including his own relationship with his father, to observe contemporary topics. His presentation will focus on his perspective on local events and the current political climate, and will include a question and answer period.
