2024-2025 District Office Administrative Assistant for D28

Salary: Range of $44,000-$47,000 
Benefits Eligibility: Eligible for full-time benefits for classified personnel
Work Year: July 1 to June 30 
Days Off: 10 holidays
Schedule: 8am - 4:30pm

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a supportive demeanor and genuine enjoyment of working with staff, students, parents and the community
  • Must be able to effectively interact with parents and other visitors
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district office personnel and the schools' employees
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in all matters, take initiative, work independently or coordinate with others as needed 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, working with details and maintaining accurate records
  • Excellent competencies in writing clear and concise memoranda, basic financial literacy, and use of software tools and other technology resources
  • Capacity to carry out instructions and develop comprehensive plans with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated success working in an environment with multiple priorities and some periods of high volume work activity
  • Capable of handling matters of a confidential nature
  • Working knowledge of the operation of all types of office machines
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in technology applications and other electronic programs that support district operations

Reports To: 
Chief School Business Official

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming phone calls and emails in a timely manner and direct each appropriately
  • Work cooperatively with others to support an efficient office environment
  • Provide assistance with monthly state reporting
  • Coordinate and support annual summer programming
  • Assist with placement of student teachers
  • Provide support to Gifted & Talented Program, including coordination of transportation services for advanced mathematics students, testing, placement and appeal process
  • Provide back-up assistance with processing accounts receivable payments with online software and updating the web store
  • Provide back-up support for the food service program, including collaborating with the food service vendor, processing applications, ordering food supplies for student services, problem-solve lunch account issues with software vendor
  • Organize and maintain a variety of files and records (retention and destruction)
  • Assist the Chief School Business Official, Director of Student Services, Director of Learning, and Director of Human Resources, as needed
  • Perform other appropriate tasks, as assigned

Terms of Employment:  
12 Month Position; Salary and benefits as determined annually by the D28 Board of Education
