SUMMARY:Meal Packing Event
DESCRIPTION:For the fourth year in a row\, the Chamber is once again organizing a one day meal packing event to help fight hunger along the North Shore.   The goal is to assemble 40\,000 individually packed\, nutritious meals that will be distributed to area food pantries and the Northern Illinois Food Bank to help feed individuals and families in need.\n\n            Volunteers are needed for two shifts\, one at lunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) and a second afternoon shift (4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.).  The event is sponsored by the Chamber as a way for its members to give back to the community.  To supplement the efforts\, Chamber members can make additional contributions so that more meals can be packaged at the event.  Last year\, over 250 volunteers from 81 businesses participated in the event.
