SUMMARY:2014 Meal Packing Event
DESCRIPTION:The Chamber is pleased to offer members a terrific opportunity to give back to the community by helping to fight hunger right in our own backyard.  On August 28th\, the Chamber will host a Meal Packing event where members will assemble over 40\,000 meals for the Northbrook Food Pantry\, the Northern Illinois Food Bank as well as other area food banks.   Participants are asked to donate two hours of time to package meals alongside other colleagues\, in a fun and energized setting.\n\n\n\nThrough a partnership with Outreach\, a charitable organization that specializes in organizing mobile meal packing events\, the Chamber will hold the event on Thursday\, August 28th in space donated by the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel.  Outreach will provide all the ingredients for specially fortified macaroni and cheese dinner packets.\n\n\n\nChamber members\, their staff and co-workers are encouraged to register for one of the two shifts\, 11:30 a.m.   1:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m.   6:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe Chamber is providing funding to compile over 40\,000 meals\, however members are invited to make contributions which will make it possible to package even more meals.  At a cost of $.25 per meal\, even a small $10.00 donation will add 40 meals to the total.  Advance donations are encouraged so that Outreach can plan ahead and provide enough supplies.\n\n\n\nLocally the Northfield Township Food Pantry serves nearly 700 families from Northbrook and surrounding communities.
